Career As A Metalsmith

Driven by a lifelong love of jewelry, Lacey first started realizing her passion by working for a handmade jewelry supply company in 2017. Lacey combined high productivity with a low error rate, which shortly led to her working from a dedicated shop at home. For this company, she handmade over 150,000 pieces for jewelers worldwide in just over 4 years.

In her spare time, Lacey discovered she not only had an appreciation for making jewelry, but for using natural materials to create texture. What began as an experimentation to share her connection with nature, quickly blossomed into a fully realized passion. After encouragement from her family and friends, Lacey ventured out on her own and founded Seminoe Metalsmithing, LLC in 2021.

Horsehair imprints were her first release of natural impressions. Lacey was in a severe horse accident leaving her paralyzed at the bottom of a butte in 2015. Though a complex surgery and luck allowed her recovery, this experience inspired her horsehair pieces while allowing her to continue to connect with the equine in an entirely different way. Lacey even offers custom pieces.

From there, she went all in. Aspen leaves, geodes, and even insect wings have been materials of focus. Lacey is particularly captivated by dragonfly wing imprints for their intense level of detail. Regardless of material, nature is her “stamp”, leaving each piece of jewelry truly unique.

Upon founding Seminoe, Lacey became Wyoming’s first permanent jewelry artist. She is the only artist in the state of Wyoming offering the service whose full-time focus is on her own jewelry line. Her expertise and high end selections shine, as she has even given permanent jewelry services to Nashville artist Brittany Warthan, who is married to Randall King.

Lacey makes a true effort to set herself apart from others. She believes that there is plenty to go around for everyone but it is also important to be true to one’s self.
